Edema is present in both cardiac disease & renal disease (nephrotic syndrome). Can you differentiate between the two clinically?

Ans:

In Cardiac origin edema like in congestive heart failure edema usually in dependent part mostly in leg & associated with engorged & pulsatile neck veins, enlarged tender liver.

While in renal disease edema like in Nephrotic syndrome edema usually starts from face or periorbital then descends & later become generalized.
