Why penicillin & cephalosporins are not effective against Mycoplasma pneumoniae?


Penicillin & cephalosporin are not effective against Mycoplasma pneumoniae because Mycoplasma has no cell wall & these both drugs are cell wall synthesis inhibitors.

so, Erythromycin & tetracycline are used in Mycoplasma pneumoniae.
