‘The following features in the image point to the diagnosis of medullary carcinoma of thyroid.

Gross:
The cut surface of gland shows multiple tumor areas with areas of hemorrhage. The tumor is yellow to white.

Microscopy:
The tumor cells are separated by amyloid stroma (eosinophilic deposits). This stroma is derived from calcitonin. Their pattern gives it a glomeruloid configuration.
